The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊͶע nursing program will prepare you to meet the evolving health care needs of diverse populations throughout the lifespan.
Our graduates gain experiences with dedicated faculty in a variety of health care settings, including state-of-the-art clinical simulation and assessment labs and at clinical institutions, agencies, and sites throughout the region and state. The program provides an environment for excellence through an interdisciplinary approach to liberal arts, sciences and professional education.
DNP CCNE On-Site Evaluation
The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) will conduct an on-site evaluation of the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊͶע program leading to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree on November 6 to 8, 2024. The CCNE is an autonomous accrediting agency, which ensures the quality and integrity of professional nursing programs. Prior to the accreditation visit and in compliance with the accreditation process, programs are required to provide an opportunity for constituents and other interested parties to submit, in writing, comments concerning a program’s qualifications for accreditation.
This letter serves as notification that an accreditation review is scheduled and that third-party comments will be received by CCNE until 21 days before the scheduled on-site evaluation. Any written third-party comments must be received by CCNE by October 16, 2024. Only signed comments are accepted by CCNE. CCNE shares third-party comments with members of the evaluation team prior to the visit, but at no time during the review process are these comments shared with the program. During its review of the program, the evaluation team considers third-party comments that relate to the accreditation standards. All third-party comments submitted to CCNE must be written in English, consistent with CCNE's policy on Conduct of Business in English.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the webpage of the Nursing program at аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊͶע University! I am delighted that you are visiting our site to learn more about our outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs.
Nursing is a profession that serves a critical role in health promotion, disease prevention, and restoration of individuals, families and populations. We are at the forefront of the health care delivery system across all settings in the U.S. and abroad and are the single largest number of health providers in the U.S. Today, the magnitude and scope of practice for professional nurses has seen further expansion to include significant roles in research, policy development and advocacy. The nursing profession has changed over time, and the world and education has changed, as well. Nursing continues to evolve, and the progression of nurses with a higher level of education and an expansion of practice also continues to increase. The bottom line is that expanding the breadth and scope of nursing practice has demonstrated tremendous benefits and improves outcomes for patients, for families and for populations.
Here at аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊͶע, we are preparing nurse generalists and graduate-level nurse practitioners as professional nurses with a commitment to lifelong learning and the capacity to adapt to change in a multi-cultural, interdependent world. History, Mission, & Vision
Program History: аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊͶע initiated an RN-BSN program in 1975. In 1998, the Adult Nurse Practitioner program was initiated followed in 2004 with the Family Nurse Practitioner post-master’s certificate program. The generic Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program launched in 2006 and 10 years later, in 2016, the accelerated second-degree BSN program began. In 2018, the Post-BSN and Post-MSN Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students enrolled in the first cohort of the DNP program. Our first DNP cohort graduated in 2021. In spring 2022, we added an additional cohort of the accelerated BSN program for a spring-start cohort.

The mission of the Graduate Nursing Program is to develop competent nurse practitioners or advanced practice registered nurses to practice in a culturally diverse and rapidly evolving world. The University and the Graduate Nursing Programs remain responsive to community needs. Independent, experiential learning fosters students to choose their education and future professional endeavors. We embrace the University’s Guiding Principles, Vision, Values, and the Strategic Plan.
Vision: The vision is to be a provider of exceptional nursing education committed to scholarship, service, health equity and quality of life for all.
Organizing Framework: The organizing framework of the Nursing Program is based on The Roy Adaptation Model which is congruent with the metaparadigm of nursing. The major elements of person, environment, health and nursing are defined using the totality world view.
